On 30th July 2007, another arterial traffic route in Dublin City, the Rock Road, was officially modified to include stretches of bus lane in both directions. This provides an enhancement to the reliability of Dublin Bus routes 4 (with the 4A added that November), 5, 7, 7A, 8 and 45 which service areas such as Blackrock, Monkstown, Dún Laoghaire, Sallynoggin, Ballybrack, Dalkey, Cabinteely and Bray.
The day also saw the launch of a new service to augment these routes between Blackrock Village and the City Centre with additional bus trips provided courtesy of the 7E.
At both ends of the 7E Route, Donnybrook Depot's AX545 is pictured above at the first pick-up point in Blackrock, the Frascati Shopping Centre - and below, AX541 on O'Connell Street.
UPDATE OCTOBER 2007: Route 7E suffered the same fate as Route 93, being quietly cancelled after only a small number of weeks in operation.
