Temporary Howth Shuttle Bus Route 31D

From the 3rd of April to the 16th of May 2004 the DART rail service between the stations of Howth and Howth Junction in North County Dublin was suspended due to an upgrade of the track at weekends.

Dublin Bus created a temporary shuttle service between the two stations for the duration of the suspension. Below are pictures of two buses on the shuttle on the second day of operation.

This billboard outside Howth Station alerted the travelling public to the alternative arrangements.

The shuttle service was designated Route 31D, running every 15 minutes from each terminus. The number was a derivative of the existing main group of routes which serve(d) the general Howth/Sutton area - the 31, former 31A, 31B and 31C.
