Preserved DF839 takes a run... and meets an old friend!

Please allow a few moments for all pictures in this feature to display fully...

Preserved CIÉ VanHool-McArdle bodied Atlantean DF839 arrived in D'Olier Street just after 1pm, bringing with it a bit of nostalgia back to the streets of Dublin!

First port of call, Dun Laoghaire Railway Station - the terminus of several Dublin Bus routes today, including as displayed on the scroll - 46A.

DF839 still retains a rear numeral scroll from the Conyngham Road garage, where she was based for much of her working life, no doubt operating countless runs on the 78A.

Next stop, the old Route 8 terminus at Dalkey.

After heading back to the city centre, it was outbound again, this time to Churchtown, once terminus of the 14 and 14A.

As a special surprise we met up with another preserved VanHool, this time former Dublin Bus tree-lopper D635 owned by a private preservationist and is designated for use in promotional events.

Having performed flawlessly, a great afternoon out with DF839 came to an end back in Dublin city centre at Fleet Street.

Thnaks to all involved with Preserved Irish Transport .com for organising this memorable treat.
