Ex-CIÉ Leyland Atlantean D365 on Dublin's first official Bus Lane
CIÉ's D365 is pictured on Route 81 in May 1980 using the city centre's first official bus lane. Note the pictorial display on the bus lane sign in the upper left of the picture.
The lane was operated as a contra-flow on Parliament Street from the Quays to Dame Street, but only lasted as such until Dublin Corporation reversed traffic flow on the Quays - and subsequently on Parliament Street - two years later.
Route 81 itself ceased operation on Monday 11 February 1985 to be replaced by a re-routed 22A via Clogher Road, close to Bangor Road.
