AV294 (Dublin Bus) on the first 79X
On the 10th of December 2007, Dublin Bus introduced a new Xpresso service into the city. The 79X starts from Neilstown Road and travels via Neilstown Bridge, Cappaghmore, Station Road, Palmerstown Woods, Cedar Brook, Cherry Orchard, Ballyfermot Road, Con Colbert Road, Heuston Station and along the North Quays to Bachelor's Walk.
I was on hand to meet the first bus, but the driver and I discovered that the destination display had not yet been programmed to show the new route number. So, it was out with the trusty pen to scrawl 79X on the back of the running board and prop it up in the front window!
